My name is Lisa Knapp, and along with my husband Steve, I own and operate Knapp’s Knee-High Miniature Horse Sales. I’d like to introduce myself and tell you a little about my background with horses.
I was raised in Nebraska and although I lived in town, I was fortunate to have both sets of grandparents who lived on farms and owned horses. I was in the saddle about the same time I was learning to walk. When I was 7 years old, one of my grandfathers bought a pony for me, and it’s been a love affair with horses ever since. My family moved to a farm when I was in the 5th grade, and I was able to keep my pony, and later a horse, on our farm until I left for college.
I first saw a miniature horse about 30 years ago, and I was captivated! At the time I lived in a city, and it wasn’t feasible to own a mini, but life went on and eventually my husband and I purchased 10 acres and suddenly I was in the position to have a miniature horse!
I decided to get into breeding the minis because having them in our lives is such a joyful and rewarding experience and I wanted to be able to share that with other people.
